Hi Anthony,

It's quite an interesting concept, and sounds pretty affordable (if it's
comparable to The Hub). Personally, our team will just be after hours / hobby
based for some time yet, unless we have an unexpected massive hit on our hands.
In any case, I'll answer the questions as though going full time were a
potentially viable thing. Answers inline below.

Cheers,
Aranda

Subject: [PIGMI] Let's Make Games: Shared co-working office survey

Hey PIGMIs,

Let's Make Games are currently looking into the viability of a shared co-working
office area for game and digital media developers. One of the first steps we
have to make is determine if there is enough demand for a shared working space
to exist.

Below is a quick list of questions to poll for interest from the community on
the shared co-working space and the potential services provided. If this is of
interest to you, please answer the questions in a reply back to myself
(anthony at letsmakegames.org), Minh (minh at letsmakegames.org) and/or Nick
(nick at letsmakegames.org).

We'll be collecting all of your input over the weekend, and will probably
contact some developers on Monday if it is likely they might have missed this
due to X|Media|Lab taking up all their time this weekend. =)

Cheers guys, I look forward to getting your feedback.

**

-Are you interested in a shared workspace in the CBD for game and interactive
media developers?
Interested? Yes. Likely to need it any time soon? Unfortunately not.

-The space will most likely be rented out on a per desk per month basis. How
many desks would you require, and what length of time would you expect to rent
the desk(s) for? (Minimum term would be one month. Shared part-time leases would
be negotiable.)
Initially 2 - 3 desks for 3 - 6 months with the plan to expand.

-Would you be interested in the services of a;
    -receptionist,
    -a meeting room, Yes
    -wireless internet, Yes
    -printing, Yes
     -filing or storage space?
Please indicate which, and feel free to add other services you might require.

-Would you have a preferred starting date (or the sooner the better)?
 :(

-What range of rent rates would you be willing to pay?
(As examples of current rates, The Hub Melbourne offer 24/7 access for $660 inc
GST per month down to 10 hours access per month for $66 inc. GST.)
The Hub rates sound very reasonable. I assume that is per desk. If you just had
12 hours per day (normal hours), I can't imagine it would go down to $330

-Would you require 24hr access?
Not normally, but I guess it could be very useful during crunch periods.

-LMG has been approached by a number of businesses looking to contract work for
game development and digital media projects. Does your business undertake
contract work, and are you/will you be actively looking for further contract
work?
Not likely. We're currently focussed on small in-house projects.

-Have you previously registered on SpaceMarket?
No

-Are there other locations (non-CBD) where this venture would interest you?
Fremantle, Curtin / Murdoch area.
