[PIGMI] Role Call...

At ECU we typically learn with a number of different programs. In Game Design and Production we were using Torque, which a lot of people disliked (myself included) because of a lack of documentation. Many of us have started using the Unreal Developer Kit, which is absolutely fantastic since it means that multimedia students doing Flash can get involved by doing UI’s. Many other students in that class were using Flash to make their games. In the Games Project unit I believe it, too, is your choice of engine.

The only unit where Unity is used primarily is in Game Level Design to my knowledge. I’ve not yet done that class to be able to give any feedback on it, however.

Cheers,

Yep, we use Unity a lot at Murdoch. For freshly graduated programmers with unity experience, get in touch with murdoch's ITS department. For game artists with unity experience, get in touch with me. :). We are about to graduate our first class of Games Art students. If anyone's in a position to hire them in Perth, they'll have a distinct advantage over the other people hiring these excellent graduates! :)

What's the Unity exposure like at ECU and Curtin and UWA, for games related degrees? I'd be interested to hear from the other schools.

I think Murdoch's had a focus on Unity, too, if you're after grads.

Cam and Matt used Unity for their snowboarding game.

I'm teaching it next semester - may have some recruits for you in 2012 :)

I'm just starting with unity 3d, but it's pretty easy to pickup.

I've already done some work with dynamic meshes and am currently working on an FPS.
