Those interested in Xna may have already heard, but Andrew Russell has decided
to try to get crowd funding to progress his implementation before going Open
Source with it. He copped a bit of flak for forking two other libraries
(XnaTouch and Silversprite) then trying to get money for it, but he argues that
he has made massive changes (improvements) and submitting patches of this
magnitude is not feasible. I've given XnaTouch a try and I can say with
certainty that there is much room for improvement. Find out more at the
RocketHub
page: http://rockethub.com/projects/752-exen-xna-for-iphone-android-and-silverlight and
 on his blog: http://andrewrussell.net/.

Apparently a similar thing was done with Blender. Personally I find it
intriguing and I'm tempted to contribute. I'm pretty sure I'll find the end
result useful, but I'm still hesitant to commit cash to something so nebulous
that I'd get for free a few months later anyway.

This is just a heads up really but I'd be interested to know peoples thoughts on
this approach to building an open source project.
