The connections you make and the advice you get at an XML are
priceless, at the risk of sounding like a Mastercard ad. The ratio of
mentors to teams is very high (1:1) so it's bound to be more expensive
than a conference, but you get two full days of one-to-one time with
the most amazing people for that.

It's not for everyone of course, and maybe one of the other XMLs
overseas may suit better (eg if you're doing location-based services
there is usually one a year on that). Screenwest said that they are
still assisting teams to attend overseas XMLs, even though they're
having one in Perth.

XML is a big commitment, I think that the fee is also intended to
reflect that. So few teams can be accommodated (due to the 1:1 ratio)
that they want to be sure it's people who are *really* committed to
getting the most out of it.
