<div>I'll be moving (back) to Perth later this year and so thought it would be a good time to introduce myself. I know some of you and some of you may know me from an IGDA presentation I did a few years back during a Perth visit.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I've been working in games for 17+ years now. For the last 7 years I have been working on EA's American Football games out of Florida, with the last year as Technical Director for Madden NFL 12. Prior to that I had my own little game development company in Perth doing small ports. There is a little info on them here: <a href="http://titaniumstudios.com/games/games.html">http://titaniumstudios.com/games/games.html</a> . Personally I love porting work and these projects were some of the most fun I've ever had. When I left Perth there was just a glimmer of a game industry but a lot of promise with Murdoch's games course starting up. Even so, I was quite surprised to see a few years later just how much things had grown, and in particular, how this great community had sprung up. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I'm still not sure where I'll land job-wise and there is a pretty good chance that my day job will not be directly games related. However things work out, my goal is to participate in Perth's game industry as much as I can. I believe the coming years hold a lot of potential for Perth. The need for games to be connected across platforms is increasing and EA for example is positioning themselves for it in a big way. Perth has a critical mass of skills for many of these platforms. Melbourne is stronger and EA has already bought a couple of developers there however I am confident there is still plenty of room for Perth. IMO the most important factor will be how the Perth community rallies together when opportunity knocks. I have high hopes as the community, while small, is the most collaborative and passionate I know of.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I looking forward to catching up with those I know and to meeting new faces. If you want to chat, have questions or are interested in collaborating in some way, please feel free to drop me an email.</div>
